Barrington Tops National Park and State Conservation area is 83,000ha of wild country offering extremes of climate, landscapes and plant and animal communities. It is this diversity of landscape which captures the visitor and creates the desire to return again and again to experience what it is Barrington Top offers.
Whether it is chasing respite from the summer heat and to cool off in the high altitude country or mountain rivers such as the Williams River and Gloucester River, or it is just the chance of a snow storm or crisp winter frosts people are drawn to the Tops.
There are many special places to visit, and many special ways to access different sections of the park.
From Gloucester you can access Gloucester Tops and experience pristine rivers and streams, Beech forest and snow gums. You can also cross the plateau via the Gloucester-Scone Road and delight in the open woodlands and eucalypt forests which lead to the sub-alpine landscape.
In the south eastern section of the reserve, the beautiful Williams River supports the sub tropical rainforest environment and you can experience the wonders of this world heritage listed region that forms part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area.
If travelling across the Tops to Scone then the historical Belltrees property is a great place to visit. A round trip can then be made back to Gloucester in time for dinner at Bucketts Way Motel.

The Rawdon Vale Ambush or Camp Cobark experience can be arrranged exclusively for groups.
Nick from the Rawdon Vale will entertain your group with his country shenanigans and supply your morning tea - Australian style.
Allen from Camp Cobark will show groups how to work cattle the traditional way - on horseback and with dogs. Over lunch he tells of local folklore while giving demonstrations of what early settlers and drovers did to survive in this magnificent but harsh countryside.
Farm gate tours are a great way to experience and learn about how local produce is grown and prepared.
Hillview Herb farm and Trudgalong farm provide exclusive group tours along with fantastic lunches and morning teas.

Stroud is a historic town located along the southern end of the Bucketts Way.
One of the best ways to see Stroud is to do the Heritage walk where you can see the many historic buildings.
The township of Gloucester is a friendly town located amongst the "Bucketts" With the Bucketts Way Motel located at the end of the main street it provides easy access for group members to browse the main street, enjoy one of tthe many great cafes or visit the local shops.
Just off the main street is the Gloucester Gallery where you can view local artworks or see one of the regular art exhibitions held here.
Also within easy walking distance is the Gloucester Folk Museum showcasing the interesting history of the area. Gloucester also has its own heritage walk with many interesting buildings located very close to Bucketts Way Motel.
For any group intersted in Motor bikes or historical vehicles the Nabiac Motor Bike museum is a must see.
The museum can be combined with a trip to the coast ensuring a full and varied day.
Foster is a great coastal town and a great place to do a Dolphin cruise. Groups can also enjoy some free time exploring tthe shops, cafes and beautiful coastline.
The Mountain Maid Gold Mine is operated by the National Parks with tours available to re-live the old mining boom in the area. Group bookings are esssential.
Gloucester is located at the northern end of the Hunter Valley. A full day trip can be made visiting the Hunter Valley Gardens, vineyard visits and wine tasting, chocolate factory, cheese factory and the cookie shop.
Dungog is a great town to use as stopover as an alternative route from Sydney or if you are doing a round trip over the Barrington Tops and back to Gloucester.
Attractions in the area include the Chinchester Dam, Historical museum, Vacey Bridge and Chinchester State Forest. The town has some great cafes and Restaurants and is a good place for visiors to take a wander.
