Farm Gate Visits

The Gloucester region gives you a fabulous opportunity to visit local properties to see how our food is grown and prepared. During visits you also have the opportunity to taste and purchase locally grown produce.

As working properties it is always best to call in advance.

Alderley Creek Wines

Experience the history of Alderley, stroll in the gardens and enjoy the wines.

Hillview Herb Farm

Producing quality organically grown herbs.

Trudgalong Farm

A farm with a difference including aquaculture, boer goats, small animal farm, milking demonstration and plant nursery.
Call (02) 6558 3097 to arrange tour. Tours of approx 1 ½ hours are $8 per adult or $25 for a family.

Horse Riding

Camp Cobark is located 34km from Gloucester at 2457 Scone Road.
It offers riding instruction before setting off with a choice of:

  • 2 hour guided mountain and river trails ride including morning or afternoon tea
  • 1 day bush trail ride with lunch

Gloucester is the perfect base camp for Canoeing the rivers of the area including the famous Barrington River.

Visitors can choose to go on a variety of fully guides tours, hire equipment locally or bring their own equipment.

Barrington Outdoor Adventure Centre and Canoe Barrington both offer fully guided tours and equipment rental and information on canoeing in the area.

Mullett, Bass and Catfish can be caught in the Barrington, Gloucester and Barnard Rivers.

Trout can be caught in the upper reaches of the Barrington, Gloucester, Little Manning and Dilgry River.

Fishing licenses are required in NSW. These can be purchased at the Tourist Information Centre.

Walkers can choose walks from a pleasant stroll in the park and along the river across from the Motel right through to walks taking several days such as the 220km Tops to Myalls Heritage Trail.

National Parks

Gloucester is considered the base camp to the Barrington Tops. With World Heritage subtropical rainforests in the lower valleys and subalpine woodland on the upland plateau. Most of the area is declared wilderness with wild and scenic rivers and winter snowcaps.

Woko and Copeland Tops National Parks are also within easy drive.

Historic Sites

Gloucester District Folk Museum is located across the road from the Motel.
Opening hours 10am to 12 noon Tuesday and Thursday
10am to 2pm Saturday
Adults $3 , Students $1.

The Gloucester Town Heritage Walk is an interesting 45 minute walk around town and can be commenced at the Motel which contains a mural by artist Harold Thornton of the district in 1963.


National Parks and Wildlife have recently commenced tours of this site. Tours can be booked through Gloucester Visitors Information Centre


Farmers Market

The market is held every 2nd Saturday of each month. Open 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Come and enjoy the many local products featured at the markets.


Chill out festival

July 25th 2020. This annual event in Gloucester's main street offers markett stalls, street entertainment, carnival rides, children's activities, gourmet food and local wine and cheese. Great weekend event for the whole family.


Gloucester Tri Challenge

September 2020. This unique event consists of a 24km mountain bike, 10.7km kayak down the Barrington River and finishes with an 8.8km run. Fantastic challenge for all.


Poley's Country Music Hoedown

Poley's Country music Hoedown is a celebration of Country music held at Poley's place each Easter and October long weekend.

Most people head out to the Poley's place and camp but if you would like to stay in comfort then we recommend you book with us early as this is traditionally a busy weekend for the area.

We will be providing more details here as they become available.


Gloucester Senior Tennis Tournament

April 24th to 26th 2020. This annual tennis tournament is hosted at the Gloucester tennis club in Billabong Park just across from Bucketts Way Motel. (an easy stroll away)

Please book early if you are intending on staying overnight as this will be a busy weekend.
